In the first instance there is the Full Plans Application which is suitable for any type of project. The advantage of this route is that a formal approval will be issued once the plans comply with the regulations.Costly delays can be avoided as contractors can work to approved drawings.

An alternative option is the building notice application which can be used for dwelling-houses.

A disadvantage of the building notice procedure is you don't have approved plans to work from for guidance and certainty of construction cost. For this reason we do not recommend using building notices.
